The civilizations have been counted and the AST positions tallied — here are the final results from Game 19, The East. It was a record-breaking day.

How It Played Out

The eastern empires battled it out for dominance once again, with a full table of nine. Fortunes rose and fell across the board while Nubia quietly built a dominant position, shielded from attack by every neighbour save Saba — struck low by repeated calamities. Plenty of empires held high city counts for many turns, but nobody could catch Nubia, who never stalled on the AST progression.

A few things the scoresheet tells us:

• A new record. Allister’s 174 is the highest score we have ever recorded, clearing the previous best — William L.’s 160 with Carthage in Game 17 — by 14 points.
• Alone at the top of the AST. Allister was the only player to reach AST 17, and finished 39 points clear of John P. in second.
